Whenever I think of comic conventions, I think of the Simpsons‘ treatment with the Springfield Bi-Monthly Science Fiction Convention, or Bi-Mon Sci-Fi Con. However, things seem to be alot less nerdy than they used to be, with alot of mainstream blockbusters getting time at these things. I’m actually a bit jealous. A bunch of Lost info, and trailers that us normal folk won’t see for months, or ever. Before Youtube, anyway.
The newest trailer to be stolen here (you’re welcome) is X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Hugh Jackman gets a big paycheck to be angry about things.
The X-men films in general were hit and miss for me. Trying to politicize mutant problems when everyone is busy being beautiful and angsty just didn’t grab me. The action was always good, but that’s about it.
From what I can tell, this will be more of the same. My only guess is that the badassery of Hugh Jackman (overlooking Scoop.. yikes) will make this more worthwhile. Origin stories seem to be all the rage lately, so this cash machine seems like a no brainer. Big ’splosions and growly man fighting are what the trailer’s all about, including more mutants we haven’t seen in the movies before. Label me cautiously excited. That doesn’t make me a nerd, does it?
