I think the last time I saw a trailer with it finishing and me having no better idea what the movie was about, but wanting to see the movie anyways was Sin City. Coincidental that Watchmen is a graphic novel as well, and that its trailer had the same effect.
The trailer for the film based on the graphic novel about a group of ‘costumed adventurers’ in an alternate 1985 where Nixon is still president just reeks of cool.

I’m a fan of drippy music, and Smashing Pumpkins ‘The Beginning is the End is the Beginning’ definitely fits that description.
I’m now waiting on my library’s queue for apparently the only copy of Watchmen in West Michigan’s 20 library system. I might have to wait until I get back to Ann Arbor to give this a read, but the fact that it’s on Time’s Top 100 Novels of the 20th century list makes me want to pick it up even more.
Who Watches the Watchmen?
Zack Snyder (of 300) is directing, and I think he has the opportunity to make a film that has actual merit, where 300 was alot of slow-mo action with a loosely crafted ‘plot’.
This trailer has caused this film to jump to my #1 most wanted of 2009. Stay tuned.
